I still continue to take other supplements and actually I started taking berberine a couple weeks ago because I ran out of one of my supplements that I've taken instead which is amla a mixture three Indian herbs that also contain Berberine. Basically too much fermentation in the stomach. I'm pretty sure it was a wrong microbiome meaning that the mix of fungus and bacteria in the stomach are not ideal. It's been 2 years and I haven't felt bloated anymore. I am pretty delighted with the results thus far. So if anyone out there is looking to lower their blood sugar or weight, or just get better control of their hunger cues, it would be worth your time to at least look at the research on berberine. I can decide to have the veggie wrap instead of pizza. I guess a third kind of peripheral thing is that, since I am pretty much just never frantically hungry anymore, it is easier to make good food choices. The other thing I notice is that I get a satiety signal sooner. More than once I have had to prod myself to eat like so: "You'd better eat lunch now or you'll be eating dinner really late." On a scale of 1 - 10, normally I might feel a hunger level of 8. You usually eat at noon and now it is 1pm. It did two things.įirst, it blunted my "I'm hungry" signal. I cannot speak to how it helped them do it but here is what I personally noticed. I was able to find references to studies showing berberine helping obese people lose weight. And, since I haven't altered anything else, I am pretty sure this is due to the berberine. But what is most definitely dropping is my weight and that is because my eating patterns are changing.

So I started taking berberine to see if it would have an effect. Not wildly high-typical values would be 110 - 120-but I know from experience that is nowhere near my personal comfortable range-more like 75 - 85.

I became aware of this supplement by listening to Dr Andrew Huberman's podcast ( highly recommend - check it out!) He said multiple studies showed that berberine could lower blood sugar spikes as well as the prescription drug Metformin.ĭue to increased weight, poor diet choices, etc my blood sugar (as tested by the little manual models you can buy where you prick your finger) had crept up. I thought I would relay my experience with berberine.
